Life Lately

A new exciting post will be coming soon, but today's not the day :( Sorrrrry. I had my first day at Boomerang and I am SO pumped. I spent the whole time looking up boat tour companies across the country- tough work right? The office is BEAUTIFUL and I host my first tour Friday! Wahoo!

Last weekend I went back to my college stomping grounds for wedding celebrations!
Stacia you were a beautiful bride and your wedding was a blast!

Shannon and I had a great time in Tallahassee as well. However, going back to your college town as an alum in officially the WEIRDEST thing better. I'm hoping football season will be different. My liver couldn't handle the all-you-can-drink liquor after the 3 month hiatus, and while I miss my friends I don't think my body misses college.

Limbo

No, I’m not talking about the awkward game from every elementary school birthday party. I’m talking about that annoying in-between stage during relationships that I seem to always find myself stuck in forever.
No one wants to have that “what are we ?” talk. But honestly why does this concept have to be so difficult?!

I feel like with every actual serious relationship I’ve had it always starts out great. There’s that fun, unknown, exciting feeling about getting to know someone new. But then, it never fails, after a certain point they all get crazy. Real estate, life plans, engagement rings, and kids names suddenly become a common topic of conversation, and I find myself running the other direction.

My guy friends tell me it’s because I’m the type you marry not the type you date. What the hell is that supposed to mean?! I’m glad that I’m the go-to after they come to their senses after ten years of single drunken decision-making. Is that even a compliment?

While I’m glad I’m not seen as one of those drunken one-night bittys I don’t see why people can’t have a relationship that lies beyond friends with benefits, but isn’t on a fast-track to marriage either. Is there no middle road?!

In college I tried the more casual approach because I truly didn’t want anything serious. I knew I wasn’t staying in Florida after graduation, and I wasn’t about to fall in love and do the long distance thing again after it blew up in my face from high school to college. The funny thing with the casual concept is that it doesn’t work either. Guys would either think they could do whatever they want (and whoever they want), or just become boring (but very cute) duds and send me flowers on the holidays to try to compensate for their lack of personality and effort. Clue to men: spending time and having fun together goes miles further than an expensive flower arrangement.

Don’t guys want someone they can go out with, stay in and watch movies with, and joke around with too? In my experience guys are more scared than girls when it comes to getting hurt and commitment. Sometimes you just have to take a leap of faith knowing you might get let down. If the risk isn’t worth the reward than I should probably not be wasting my time with you to begin with.

I’m only 22 and far from wanting the white picket fence, mini van, and slue of kids, but I’m not really trying to get treated like a warm body to sleep next to either.
The point is that I’ve had it with these extreme one-sided relationships. Perhaps this idea I’m searching for is just an absurd fantasy. If so, it looks like I’ll be single until I’m like 30 and actually ready to settle down for real. Oh well, a girl can dream. Hmph!

Video Posts!!!

I don't really have time to blog today because I am SO EXCITED for my Tallahassee trip. Here are some videos to tide you over for now!

Reason #572 that it's great to be a FLORIDA STATE alum. Oh and we got 10 of the top 150 draft pics. I am not usually so into sports or football in general but I LOVE MY SEMINOLES and it helps me pretend college isn't over. :)

This is another one of my personal favorites ;)
And here's a little recap from the concert last night!

Well I'm off to tallahassee today!!! I can't wait to see Stacia get married!!!!!! :) Adios blog world!

Why being me is totally "in" right now...

Not to toot my own horn (but it's my blog and I'm GONNA)..I have a pretty good amount of things to be excited about...

CONCERTS!!!
August must be the month of great music..starting with tonight! YAY TAYLOR SWIFT!! Here's what I have coming up:
She is the BEST in concert. I love the fact that she is tall and awkward...like me! And she's totally modest and appreciates her fans. Thank goodness my roommates are amazing and jumped on the bandwagon of scalping tickets at the last minute!
Brantley Gilbert! This concert is going to pull on my heart strings for sure..he's just fabulous!
Woops! Can't forget about Tim McGraw with Amanda and Anna-Kate!!

Jason Aldean. No explanation necessary. He is my love obsession and probably my all time favorite. He is definitely worth the drive down to Virginia beach. :)
Brad Paisley WMZQ Fall Fest concert with Anna!!! I feel some engagement celebrations coming on!

TALLAHASSEE!!
I know it has only been a few short months since graduation, but it seriously feels like FOREVER. I miss the town, football season, sorority life, and most importantly MY FRIENDS! Not only will I get to hit all my favorite spots, but I also get to road trip to Mississippi for a night to see one of my favorite, crazy sorority sisters get married!!! I don't know if my liver is going to hold up through those three days, but I am so excited I could CRY!!!
THE DOAK!
Uhmm the best sushi...EVER. Yum yum sauce get back in my life!!!
This is going to be the most insane wedding EVER. :)
My JOB!
Seriously? Hosting people on bus and boat and helping them get their party on? Is this real life? Everyone says it reminds them of Vince Vaughn's job in "The Break Up." I'll take it!

So this is the explanation for my PERFECT mood right now! Off to prepare for T-Swift tonight! Hope you all are having as good of a day as I am!!

The day we were defeated by life

Last Saturday Deanna and I were trying to find some "sober" weekend activities. Worst-idea-ever. We got sushi and then decided we'd catch the 5:15 showing of "Crazy, Stupid Love." It wasn't playing at the Ballston theater, no big deal Courthouse was right down the street.

Think again.
I don't know if the world was trying to play a cruel joke on us, but this movie theater was literally hidden. So of course we were wandering around Clarendon Blvd aimlessly with my iphone map leading us in circles.
FINALLY we find the place. The ticket lady was NOT pleasant and told us to go to the theater upstairs after giving us some major 'tude. Sorry lady, it's not OUR fault you hate your life and work at the hidden mysterious movie theater. We decide that we owe it to ourselves to get some candy and get to the theater door around 5:25, only ten minutes late, which should be right towards the end of the previews right?

WRONG.

The movie had already started and the theater was pitch black. So then we were those ass holes stumbling through the aisles using our phones for light to find a seat. I thought it was odd the movie had already started, but then just assumed the movie theater was bizarre and maybe just very prompt along with being hidden and strange.
Luckily I had seen the commercial so I knew the gist of the movie, but did think that it seemed like a lot had happened already in a mere 10 minutes.

About 45 minutes later the credits started rolling.....

We went to the 4 o'clock showing instead of the 5:30 one that was in the theater next door.

LIKE SERIOUSLY?! This was an all-time low. Deanna and I have done some pretty stupid things but this is definitely one of the worst.
WHO PUTS THE SAME MOVIE RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER AND DOESN'T TELL US WHICH ONE TO GO TO?! This totally wasn't ALL our fault. Clearly we just weren't meant to see this movie. We had spent the money on the tickets, bought candy for 45 minutes (definitely not worth the calories), and the showing of the movie we were actually supposed to see was now at the point of the movie we had just watched. So basically...that was the day we were defeated by the Courthouse movie theater.
We feel ya kid! :(

Moral of the story: WE SHOULD HAVE JUST GONE TO THE BAR LIKE THE REST OF THE WORLD ON A SATURDAY NIGHT. LESSON LEARNED

Friday Favorites!

So this is a couple hours late, but better late than never!

Favorite NEW JOB! :)
Boomerang Bus tours has just acquired a party boat that will be advertised during the week and hosted on the weekends by yours truly! Could there BE a more perfect job for me?!

Favorite Hollywood Hunk:
The fact that Demi Moore gets him is simply cruel and unfair....

Favorite bar of all time:
This is in honor of my Tallahassee trip next week. There are some definite haters of Bullwinkles but it is seriously the best bar in existence. My $60 semesterly investment for a bulls card was definitely my best college decision.
Favorite Pick-Me-Up:
The iced coffee addiction is absolutely out of control in my life right now. Brew a whole pot and stick it in the fridge in a plastic pitcher. There you have it! Iced coffee ALL THE TIME. My roommates love me. :)

Favorite Bar Activity:
Trivia Night!!!! This picture is random and awkward, so clearly I needed to use it. Trivia at Hard Times Cafe in Clarendon has quickly become one of our favorite Wednesday night activities. We are pretty bad...(actually missed a whole category once). But it's SUPER FUN and brain stimulating while you enjoy $2 beers! WHAT A COUNTRY.

Favorite Twitter Follow:
If you don't follow her you're missing out. Freaking hilarious...and some MIGHT say I'm a bit of a princess so that might be why I love it too...

Favorite Sunday Activity:
We are going this Sunday!!!!!! I've heard people claim that they're too old for theme parks, but that is just WRONG. There are so many NEW RIDES!!! Is it Sunday yet?!?!?!

Favorite Sunday Brunch in the District:
We actually didn't end up going here on purpose last week, but I forgot how AMAZING this place was. Just stroll past the White House on Pennsylvania Ave and you will find Old Ebbitt Grill. They specialize in crab cakes and have a mean bloody mary if you're into that whole let's drink a raw tomato with vodka sort of thing.

Well that's all for this week. This might have to tide you all over for awhile because this time next week I'll be BACK IN TALLAHASSEE pretending I'm still in college. :) Have a great weekend (in this TWO BILLION degree weather) everyone!!!!!

My Getaway Spot

No, it's not part II of the rap saga...sorry Anna. It is coming soon I promise!!

Today I found myself thinking about one of my favorite spots, Destin. It was definitely my go-to in college if I was having a bad day, needed to fulfill a shopping craving, or just wanted to see the beautiful blue gulf shore. I can't count the number of times I hopped in my car and made the 2 hour drive on a whim just to escape and get some alone time.

The Emerald Grande Resort, where we worked
Eric, Katie, and I on the pontoon boat in Crab Island!!

Growing up in Northern Virginia I had never even heard of the place, or understood what the hype was about the REAL Florida beaches. Thank goodness I completed my internship for my major at the good old Emerald Grande Resort. It wasn't always the most glamorous summer, but I met some of my best friends to this day and we had an absolute blast. I am slightly depressed that Destin is more like a 15 hour drive rather than a 2 hour one now, but someday when I'm rich and famous I'm SO buying property there.

Where is your "happy place?" If you don't have one, you really should! Feel free to try out mine! :)
