Friday Favorites!

This week I'm linking with my girl LC for some of my personal Friday favorites.

Favorite movie: No Strings Attached
I don't know if this movie will ever get old. Real talk, where is my Ashton Kutcher out there?!
Favorite city: New Orleans
I've been having severe NOLA withdrawals lately. The music, the food, the culture- you can't beat it.
Favorite decor accent: Hanging Lanterns
Loving anything light, subtle, earth-toned, or basically looking like it belongs in an Anthropologie display right now.
Favorite Pandora station: John Mayer
JM is the perfect summer artist. My obsession just keeps growing.
Favorite summer drink: Blue Moon Summer Honey Wheat
I'm not usually a beer girl, but Blue Moon's summer flavor hits the spot.
Favorite Magazine: Washingtonian
This magazine is my new fav, especially since it contains all the DC hotspots to add to my never ending list!
Favorite Show: The Glee Project
It's a combination of American Idol and Glee, what could be better?! These kids are so talented it's out of control.
Favorite DC Spot: Georgetown Waterfront
I want to start spending MUCH more time out here! Great drink specials, on the water, and yacht parties...count me in!
Favorite Date Activity: Movie Night In
HAHA couldn't resist this picture. But seriously, sometimes bar hopping or going out to eat can get old (plus people spending money on me makes me nervous). I love a quiet night in every once and awhile, especially on a rainy night!
Favorite Sport Season: College Football
The noles are going to be GREAT this year. I'm mildly depressed I won't be there to witness this season in full force, but counting down until homecoming!

That's all for this Friday! I'm off to galavant around Boston for the day! Post your Friday Favorites and have a great weekend everyone!

XO

Tequila and Crabs...what a combo!

Although it wasn't too good for my calorie count or bank account...we went to a bunch of really fun places in DC this weekend!

1. Mexicali Blues
My roommates and I have been talking about going to this place FOREVER. It's right in the middle of all the Arlington bars, and who doesn't love Mexican?
We got those super huge margaritas for $8.99, what a deal!
...and you can't really go wrong with tequila on the appetizer menu!

2. Lauriol Plaza
MEXICAN NEVER GETS OLD! This one's actually in DC on the Northwest side. It was Andree's mom's birthday and it's one of her favorite spots.

4 FLOORS OF MEXICAN FUN!

Fajitas!

The service isn't the best. We were waiting for a good 15 minutes before even being greeted by the server. But if you are just there for margarita pitchers, a happening atmosphere, and good mexican food, this is the place to be! It's definitely not the cheapest, but a must-go spot!
Even Barack and Michelle made an appearance!

3. Phillips Seafood, DC
Deanna and I were awkwardly craving crabs and made an impulsive trip to Phillips at two o'clock on Sunday afternoon. Even at the strange time, the parking situation is AWFUL! Word to the wise though: go on a Sunday, all day happy hour and free meter parking down the street!

We sat on the patio, but there is no happy hour out there! And you're not really supposed to go order at the bar and take it back to your table...woops! What a stupid rule Phillips.

READY FOR CRABS! Looking a little crazy!
Even though Phillips is located in the hood (Southwest DC), it definitely hits the spot if you're craving a reasonable seafood buffet. You can get all you can eat seafood and more, plus a drink, for under $40! Not too shabby.

One would think that would be enough for one weekend...but I mean it's a holiday. What's 4th of July without a cookout and some festive treats?!
Who doesn't grill in slippers?

Homemade watermelon margaritas...kind of American? Chopping up an entire watermelon was fun...
Stupidest napkins ever, so of course we impulse bought them at Target
 My American flag fruit pizza!
 Deanna's delicious bean dip!
Oh, and tequila jello shots, complete with salt rim. They were a litttttle strong considering several people actually spit them out. I think we forgot we were celebrating 4th of July and not Cinco de Mayo. Oh well!

Exhausted after this lengthy post? Imagine how I felt this morning.

Let's go to PHILLY!!!!!

Sorry for the blog delay! This weekend was crazy. One of my best friends from high school, Andree, came in town for the weekend! She is super busy being a celeb in LA so Deanna and I were so happy she made an appearance for the 4th of July weekend!
Deanna, Andge, and I waaaay back in 9th or 10th grade..yikes.

And us now! Plus our other friend from high school, Megan! :)

Of course we thought it would be a good idea to take several rounds of reunion shots Friday night at Third Edition in Georgetown. Great bar, but not the atmosphere for a low key evening. Saturday morning when we finally were up and alive around one in the afternoon, (probably still intoxicated) we decided it would be a FANTASTIC idea to drive to Philly and do the Philly Cheese Steak Challenge. Eventually, sobriety set in and we considered that it was already two o'clock, there would be holiday beach traffic, and there are plenty of places to get cheese steak that weren't three hours away, so that idea went right out the door. Instead we went into Georgetown...SHOCKING!

Michelle, Andree's little sis, took us to this AMAZING cupcake shop. It definitely doesn't have the hype of Georgetown Cupcake or Sprinkles- but then again that's what made it even better. It's called "Baked and Wired." They specialize in pastries and coffee with a serious illegal substance undertone. ;) Their icing is nothing short of heavenly, and everyone is SUPER duper friendly which is a rarity, especially in Georgetown.
YUM!!
Then we enjoyed our low-calorie treats by the Georgetown Waterfront. I got the "Karen's Birthday" flavor- chocolate cake with white buttercream icing, DELISH!

Oh, and gazed at the people partying on their yachts, seriously who do we have to make friends with in this town...?

Well, that's only a small look into an amazing 4th of July weekend! More restaurant reviews, recipes, and totally deep insights about life coming soon from yours truly as I sit here and sweat on my deck and further put off job searching!

Sweetgreen

I figured it's about time to blog about one of my favorite things...food!

Yesterday I was craving a good salad after a weak attempt at running in the ninety degree heat. My roommate Robin and I walked to Sweetgreen because I wanted to see what all the fuss was about. It's only 2 blocks from my place, and is officially my new obsession.

It's like a GOURMET BUFFET OF ALL SALAD BARS! And basically everything's priced under $10! There is every topping under the sun and TONS of homemade dressings!

There are pre-made choices if the make-your-own option is too overwhelming. I ordered the "Guacamole Greens" and it was delish! Every salad can be made into a wrap, and they have fro-yo to top it all off!

This is the Georgetown location a couple miles away. Isn't it just precious!?

This trip was definitely a success, and everyone should check it out! Yet another reason why I live in the best city ever!

Until next time blog world! XO!

Fill in the Blank Friday

Totally copying ex pres/phi mu superstar Jacki's blog- Wine Down with fill in the blank Friday!

1.  The best news I ever received was probably getting into Florida State, even though I was bawling at first because I had to go to summer school.

2.  Something I'm looking forward to is getting a real job and not depending on my Dad for uhhh...everything.

3.  Something I would never do is let someone else's needs interfere what I want for myself.

4.  If I could choose someone to be my life coach (famous or not, living or dead), I'd choose LAUREN CONRAD...make fun of me all you want for my obsession. She's driven, successful, beautiful, and doesn't take peoples crap. YOU GO LAUREN!

5.  If I had to put a label on my style it would be changing every 4 months, which explains my exploding closet and my ongoing complaint that I have nothing to wear.

6.  One should always smile. :)

7.  I want to see the world. Africa and Australia are next on my list.
